Frame-guide cold (hot) forging presses are core equipment in the modern forging industry, with a wide range of applications. Simply put, they are suitable for mass-producing metal parts, where precision, efficiency, automation, and a robust production environment are crucial. Below, the editors of Jianlong Hydraulic Technology will share their key applications from a process categorization perspective.
1. Cold Forging/Cold Extrusion
This is the primary application of frame-guide cold (hot) forging presses. At room temperature, extremely high pressure is applied to the metal blank, causing it to plastically deform within the die cavity, resulting in parts of the desired shape and size.
1.1 Automotive Parts: Constant Velocity Joints (CVJs), planetary gears, axle shafts, spline shafts, door lock components, seatbelt latches, piston pins, etc.
1.2 Standard Parts/Fasteners: High-strength bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, etc.
1.3 Electrical Parts: Motor shafts, small gears, connector terminals, etc.
1.4 Others: Pneumatic tool parts, hydraulic components (such as pistons), weapon and ammunition casings, etc.
2. Warm Forging
Forging involves heating the metal billet to a suitable temperature below the recrystallization temperature (e.g., 700-850°C for steel). This process is a compromise between cold and hot forging. It is suitable for materials with high deformation resistance that are difficult to cold forge (such as medium- and high-carbon steels and alloy steels), while still retaining the high precision and reduced oxidation benefits of cold forging. Examples include complex automotive transmission gears and connecting rods.
3. Hot Forging
Forging involves heating the metal billet to a temperature above the recrystallization temperature (e.g., 1100-1250°C for steel). This process requires equipment such as an induction heating furnace and is primarily used for forming large, complex, or highly deformable parts. While hot forging accuracy is not as high as cold forging, the frame-guided structure ensures significantly higher precision and stability during the hot forging process than traditional hammer forging equipment. Examples include large forgings such as automotive crankshafts, connecting rods, and steering knuckles.
In short, frame rail-type cold and hot forging presses are the "ace" equipment in the field of high-end precision forging. Their core application scenarios are modern industrial manufacturing fields with stringent requirements for product performance, dimensional accuracy, production cycle time, and batch consistency, especially in the automotive industry.
