Stage 1: Production Preparation
1. Mold Installation and Preheating:
◦ Install the matching upper and lower hot pressing molds onto the upper heating plate and lower worktable of the equipment, respectively.
◦ Turn on the hot plate heating system to preheat the molds to the process set temperature (e.g., 120-140°C is commonly used for ABS materials), and stabilize for a period of time to ensure uniform temperature.
2. Parameter Setting:
◦ Call up or create a new process formula for this product on the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and set:
■ Temperature Curve: Heating up and holding temperatures.
■ Pressure Curve: Mold closing pressure, molding pressure, holding pressure, and their respective times.
■ Time Parameters: Heating time, holding and cooling time.
■ Stroke Parameters: Mold closing height, mold opening height.
Phase Two: Automatic Operation Cycle (Core)
1. Loading:
◦ Manually or via an automatic feeder, place the cut plastic sheet (or composite material) into the lower mold cavity for positioning.
2. Rapid Mold Closing:
◦ Press the start button. The main cylinder of the equipment drives the upper heating plate and upper mold to descend rapidly, switching to a slower speed as it approaches the workpiece.
3. Heating and Pre-compression:
◦ The upper and lower heating plates close, contact heating the sheet material to soften it and achieve a highly elastic state.
◦ At this time, the system applies a low pre-compression pressure, allowing the sheet material to initially adhere to the mold surface and expel some air.
4. Compression Molding:
◦ The hydraulic system starts, with three cylinders simultaneously applying pressure (central main cylinder + two auxiliary cylinders on both sides). ◦ The pressure rapidly increases to the set maximum forming pressure (e.g., 200 tons), forcing the softened sheet material to completely fill every detail of the mold cavity.
5. Pressure Holding and Cooling:
◦ The pressure is maintained at the maximum for a period of time (pressure holding stage) to compensate for material shrinkage and stabilize the product shape and dimensions.
◦ Simultaneously, the cooling system (e.g., water cooling channel or air cooling) is activated, causing the workpiece temperature to drop and solidify.
6. Pressure Relief and Mold Opening:
◦ After pressure holding ends, the hydraulic system is depressurized, and the main cylinder drives the upper mold to smoothly rise to the set height.
7. Ejection and Part Removal:
◦ The equipment's built-in hydraulic ejection device (or robotic arm) ejects the formed workpiece from the lower mold.
◦ The workpiece is removed manually or by a robotic arm and placed on a worktable or conveyor line.
Stage Three: Post-processing and Quality Inspection
1. Trimming and Deburring:
◦ The removed workpiece usually has process flash, which needs to be cleaned at the punching machine or trimming station.
2. Quality Inspection:
◦ Inspect the product's appearance (smoothness, no bubbles, no missing materials), dimensions (critical contour dimensions), and shape (flatness, no warping).
3. Stacking/Transfer:
◦ Qualified products are neatly stacked and transferred to the next process, such as spraying, printing, or assembly.
